Vickie Lee Smith, the daughter of Joseph Earl and Lillie Oline (Morrow) Christmas, was born on September 12, 1958. She departed this world gently on September 8, 2024. Just shy of her 66th birthday, she leaves behind a legacy that transcends a simple few-word description. Vickie’s dedication as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was evident in every aspect of her life. She sacrificed her own needs for the sake of those she loved. She gave willingly without question and without asking for anything in return. She loved without condition and with her whole heart. Her love was never forced, it was just always there- no matter what. She loved her family like no one else could- a strong, genuine love that filled the cups of those blessed enough to be on the receiving end. Vickie had an unmatched sense of humor, born with the innate ability to make people smile. An unexpected statement from her mouth would often end with everyone laughing or blushing. Her laughter was shared with the love of her life, Timothy Allen Smith, since the day they wed on December 2, 1978. Together, they created a beautiful family, including their daughters Melissa Jane Heichelbech (Ronnie) of Buckskin, IN and Lauren Rachel Smith (Michael Tarlton) of Mt. Carmel, IL, and their cherished grandchildren Kinsly Renee Heichelbech, Presley Tegan Heichelbech, Deacon Michael Tarlton, and her sweet step-grandchildren Nicole Lynn and Noah Hunter Heichelbech. Vickie is survived by her husband, Timothy Smith, her brother, Steve (Giselle) Christmas, and her six sisters: Sue (Meb) Lang, Mary (Phillip) Garrett, Patricia (Paul) Higgins, Sandra Kay Smith, Regina "Jeanie" (Lawford) Stone, and Tammy (Jerry) Prow and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Earl and Lillie Oline Christmas, her brother Robert Christmas, and her nephew Parker Smith. As a lifelong resident of the area and an attendee of Harvest Community Church in Evansville, IN, a memorial service will honor Vickie’s life on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Visitation with the family is from 3:00 pm until time of service at 5:00 pm at Doyle Funeral Home, 520 S. Main St., Princeton, IN 47670. Vickie’s smile, good humor, and gentle nature will always be cherished in our hearts.
