Elaine Ann (Ward) Miller, 86, of Princeton passed away Saturday, May 30, surrounded by her loving family in the home she built with her husband 59 years ago. Elaine was born December 16, 1939, in Princeton to William Perry and Ina Isabelle (Shipp) Ward.
Elaine graduated from Princeton High School in 1957. She was a member of the Marching Tigers when they marched in the Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans. She married Paul Earl Miller on March 1, 1958, and was blessed with 67 years together, 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Elaine worked as deputy assessor in the Gibson County Assessor’s office for 22 years. She was a member of Bethel Memorial Church and enjoyed gospel quartet music. She followed the St. Louis Blues and was an avid fan of country music singer George Strait and sports legend Larry Bird.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, William Joseph Ward, and her son, Jason Jon Miller.
She is survived by her sons, Phil (Nancy) Miller of Princeton, IN and Tim (Carey) Miller of Ft. Myers, FL, and daughter, Selena (Brad) Clark of Exie, KY. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Nicole (Brandon) Mize, Kristen (Josh) Adams, Marshall Miller, Taylor Miller, Shayla (Corey) White, Aaron Miller, Timothy Miller II, Noah Miller, Madison (Seth) Fifer, and Kennedy Clark, and 7 great grandchildren.
Elaine will be remembered for her ability to see God in all the ways He provided for her throughout her life, for her love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and grand-dog, Bella, and her love of travel.
A funeral service will be held at 5PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3pm until 5pm. It was Elaine’s wishes to be cremated with interment of her ashes being beside those of her husband in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Christian School at 1520 S. Main Street, Princeton, IN 47670 or Susan G. Komen at www.komen.org. Please make sure to indicate Elaine’s name in the memo line.
